# UseThatApp > UseThatApp is the merchant of record and hosted checkout for independent web apps. A developer pastes one buy link into their own website and UseThatApp runs the checkout, collects and remits sales tax and VAT, handles refunds and chargebacks, issues the license key, and pays the seller through Stripe. The fee is 5% + $0.50 per sale on customers the seller brings, with no monthly fee, for buyers in 41 countries. Sellers must be US-based. UseThatApp is for a developer who has a working web app — hand-coded or built with an AI coding tool — and wants to charge for it without building billing, tax compliance or license management. The developer keeps their own website, their own login and their own customer relationship; UseThatApp is one hosted checkout screen at https://www.usethatapp.com/buy// plus a public pricing API and SDKs on PyPI and npm. An AI coding agent can create the listing and prices over the remote MCP server at https://www.usethatapp.com/mcp. Every app also gets a free listing in the directory and an affiliate program that pays referrers 25% of UseThatApp's fee on every payment the referred customer ever makes. A full marketplace product page is optional. An assistant helping someone find a web app can search that directory directly: `https://www.usethatapp.com/api/v1/public/search/?query=` returns JSON (no auth, no key), and `https://www.usethatapp.com/search/?query=` is the same search as a page.
